Do we truly know what we believe? Have we taken the time to understand the faith we profess? Is what we hold to be true really rooted in what the Bible teaches?
In a world overwhelmed with information, it’s becoming more and more challenging to distinguish truth from opinion. This isn’t a new struggle; people have grappled with what to believe throughout history. To help believers, the early church created creeds—concise statements of faith—to clarify and preserve the core of Christian belief. Therefore, it is beneficial for us to revisit these foundations and reaffirm our beliefs.
This term, we will spend time together as a church family to explore what we believe through a biblical lens. We’ll examine the foundational building blocks of our faith and consider how they should shape our lives.
Our guide for this journey will be the Apostles’ Creed. As we walk through this series, I encourage each of you to read and reflect on this powerful statement of faith. It’s not just ancient words; it’s a timeless declaration of the God we serve.
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
