Worship and Service Go Hand in Hand

Our motto is ‘Seeking to Worship, Seeking to Serve’. This keeps things simple and succinctly captures what we are about – God and His love for all mankind.

We put God first and foremost. He is the source of all we are and all we have – He is to be worshipped. Yet we can’t worship for long without God changing us, without our awareness of what is around us shifting to become more of what God sees rather than what we would normally see. This compels us to reach out, to love as God loves, which leads to service. Therefore our worship becomes practical (it was never supposed to be ‘just singing’ anyway!). We find ways of serving the community around us, for engaging with our community is one of the big things for us as a church.

Yet serving a broken and hurting world is hard. It is draining, and throws up all sorts of questions, discrepancies and issues. We cannot hope to continue in service without continually falling back on God, coming before Him again in worship, laying our lives down over and over.

So our worship and our service are intimately connected – they go hand in hand. We cannot do one without the other. We are not perfect at it, there is much much more for us to learn – hence ‘we seek’ rather than thinking we have it cracked!

As a church therefore we are:

Seeking to Worship, Seeking to Serve
